Mid-20th Century

GONE WERE THE DAYS

During the time of my Grandparents, their technology were not that high-tech compared today’s era. Their form of entertainment during the middle of the 20th century was only through radio, like radio-drama and the news of what happening in the national and in local. It is because it is the only way to know what the latest news in the country is. It was during that time that television was official broadcast happened in the Philippines.

B.F Goodrich was the only radio station my grandparents listen to. They focus their time on earning for a living. They had a farm in which they cultivate to survive and earn money.  That is why, not everyone could afford to buy television during that time. According to my Lola, shows in television were about politics.

Among the top rated programs in the 60's were The Show, Buhay Artista, and Pancho Loves Tita. Another local show that has had a prevailing top rating is Tawag ng Tanghalan, the amateur singing contest hosted by Lopito and Patsy.

Their means of communication to relatives was using letter in sending mail letter and airmail for immediate letters.

Now, the new generation may not be able to experience the same fate they had in the past. So, gone were
the days.
