21st Century

My Generation...

I tend not to be a very technical person. Because I am not that type of person who is very fanatical of new gadgets or technology that came down to pike.  Cool gadgets and bleeding-edge tech were cool.
Not every bit of tech that comes along succeeds and if you pick the wrong horse to bet on, you’re often left holding the bag when the pendulum swings in some different direction.

I am still a proponent of technology though, I think that social advancement must include some form of technological advancement and I think most people agree with me.  However, far too many people are in favor of racing to high-tech nirvana and leaving everything else behind.  There was an article about just that, someone who claims that there are numbers of  technologies that a child born today will never experience.

Some of it I agree with, most of it I don’t.

High speed Internet. Almost all Internet connections today are wired. You may have a wireless network set up in your home, but where it comes out of your router, it’s wired into the wall and down the line. The only possible exception are satellite connections, which are very rare and slow.  Where the Internet comes into virtually any building, it’s wired.

Landline phones. A landline is powered by the line itself.  A wired phone will not be out of power unless the entire area is completely in the dark. Sure, having a cell phone is convenient, but cell phones fail.  They get lost.  Especially with smart phones, their batteries die quickly.  If you have a power failure, your cell phone is likely down for the count.

In today’s day and age, beautifying your home with new furniture or appliances is almost a given. So many people are spending more and more time at home thanks to the fall in the economy and people not having money to go out. There has never been a better time than now, to make your home the most comfortable and pleasing living arrangements that you could wish for.
